Central America

This is Actun Tunichil Muknal, a cave in Belize. It goes about 5 km in, although we only went about 500m. Even that involves about 45 minutes of walking/wading/swimming through the cave. Picture me with my camera held above my head as I swim. We went as far as where the mayan gave offerings to the gods (thus the pots) and human sacrifices (at leat 14 sets of remains found). Over the 1500 odd years the water has made the bones part of the stone...ultra creepy. In keeping with Central American safety standards, the provided headlamp burnt out about 15 minutes in. The guide also kept borrowing my personal flashlight since it was better than any of ones they had.
