These are from market day in Chichicastenango. It's pretty hard to capture the hectic mazelike market in pictures. I opted only to take pictures of pretty things, and not for instance the meat section. Although memorable, no one really wants to see pictures of it (even without the scent of being there). The difficulty was compounded since I was shooting mostly from the hip, to avoid actually looking like I'm taking a picture at any given time. Instead I looked like a tourist walking around with a camera asking to be robbed. I'm pretty sure the two girls looking right at me just think I'm dreamy.

I missed getting a picture of my favourite thing at the market. A woman of about 60 yrs, who was about 4'8" (and I'm seriously not exagerating), was carrying possibly the largest turkey I've ever seen. It was alive with it's feet bound, and was about the same size as her. It was fantastic.
