Central America

Volcano, Hot Springs, Caving and the worst road I've ever been on in my life. The pictures do not do it justice. I think Susan was glad she was driving a rental. A little bit of wildlife, the costa rican equivalent of a raccoon and a sloth.
According to all the brochures Arenal Volcano looks like the picture to the right. In the few days we saw it, the closest it came was some balls of lava tumbling below the perma-cloud at the top (fourth picture above). For extra salt in the wound, the most spectacular display I saw (by about a factor of ten) occured just as I turned my camera off...I wasn't even done taking it off the tripod.
