Llanfairfechan, Wales where my great grandfather was born. The first 2 rows are from the town itself. Followed by Penrhyn castle about 10 km to the west, Aber falls in the village right next to Llanfairfechan, Conwy castle 10 km to the east, and finally some presumably druid ruins in the surrounding country.

On the hike back from Conwy I ended up about 2 mountains away from my intended destination. Yet again misreading a topographical map. As it was getting dark and it would have involved about another 3 hrs of hiking to get back, I conceded defeat and took the bus from the small town I eventually ended up in. In traditional rural fashion, a local resident came by to let me know the bus wasn't coming for another 45 minutes, and invited me in for tea while waiting.

My favorite thing about my time in Wales though, was still the train ride there. The last part of the journey was spent sitting next to the least convincing transvestite ever. The five o'clock shadow was nice, but it was the "love" "hate" tatoos across the knuckles that completed the picture of loveliness.
