More Namibia. Misc landscapes, Kolmanskop ghost town, Luderitz and Fish River canyon. If you ever happen to find yourself in this ghost town, whatever you do don't go on the guided tour. The most pointless painful experience of my trip, even including time spent in airports. The tour included an inordinately lengthy description of how the drainage system of an ice box works, a stop at the gravesite of a stray dog that used to live there, complete with ramblings on it's medical conditions and treatment. There was also a lot of "what do you think this piece of machinery/furniture/tool/crap was used for?". Often the guide was overly insistant on getting input from everyone, even those who clearly had no desire to participate. I could have dealt with this, had the outcome not usually been "well it could be any of those things, we don't really know". In retrospect I think maybe I was just following some random lunatic who happened to look kind of official. |
