Cairo
I find it absolutely impossible to capture the experience of cities like Cairo. The packed narrow alleys of the local markets just aren't easy to photograph, and nothing can compare to the call to prayer. I also don't feel comfortable taking pictures of the families living in the tombs of the old cemeteries in the City of the Dead. There is something odd in seeing a satelite dish on a tomb in a grave yard.
I'll also give Egyptians credit for their optimism. Our guide book, as well as the maps in the subway itself, all show a non-existant third subway line that may or may not be built sometime in the future. WE just kept walking and walking looking for an enterance to this mythical line. I think it goes to Hogwarts.
The final pictures are of the lawn waiting for me when I got home. Grass over my knees.
