On March 18, 2006 Susan and I got married at the Xandari spa in the mountains overlooking San Jose, Costa Rica. I don't think anyone really needs these details, but it serves as a quick and easy reminder for me if I ever forget. As you can see the guest list was small....I would say exclusive, but that's hard to justify when there's a guy in a bee outfit. We were married on the patio of our villa, and other than a few minor glitches (only getting into the villa an hour before the ceremony, hotel forgetting the wine glasses, the chairs for the ceremony being piled in the middle of the room instead of setup, Susan never getting her steak at the dinner, getting attacked by a troup of wild monkeys) it was pretty much a perfect wedding. I was even allowed to use some of the vows Homer wrote....."for richer or poorer, poorer is underlined. In quiet solitude or blasting across the alkaly salt flats in a rocket powered monkey navigated, and it goes on like this for a while". I think the Costa Rican lawyer who performed the ceremony was a little confused by it all. Other guests at the hotel wondered about the bee and I told them that it's a Canadian custom and there is one at every wedding. As they walked off you could hear them mutter "remind me never to go to Canada". For some reason part way through the ceremony vultures started circling (see last pic). Make of it what you will.
